St. Paul Saints Baseball Camp 2009

This year we signed up Jon for the St. Paul Saints Baseball Camp. TJ, Noah and Anthony were also signed up for the camp. It started on Monday and is from 9am to 1pm everyday until Thursday. Of course me not wanting to be late, I left early because I didn't know how traffic was going to be and we arrived at 8:30am. I had stopped at Burger King for Breakfast so the boys were able to finish their food in the car. When they were all done we walked up and checked in Jon. Since we were there so early none of the cousins were there yet but Jon followed one of the coaches into a door and out onto the fields with some other kids. Parents are allowed to watch in the stands so, Nicholas, myself and Marisa walked up to the stands. I was a little worried for Jon because he can be so shy sometimes, but he did great! He hung out in the dugout with the rest of the boys and just hung out for the other kids to show up. They started right on time at 9am and were told to run out onto center field. So off he went! By this time the cousins finally arrived! They went out and ran for a little bit to get warmed up (it was REALLY cold outside!). Than they lined up and stretched. After that they split up into groups and did drills. Jon is having SO much fun he has already told us he wants to do this again next summer. This morning when I was driving him he kept on saying, "We're going to have so much fun today!" It's great to see him have so much fun and learning too! Tomorrow is the last day so I am hoping to get some videos of the day. Below are some pics! Enjoy!

The boys after running out to Center Field, TWICE! Jon is in the orange shirt, #14!

Lining up in Center Field to do some drills.

TJ hustling back for his glove.

Noah asking for a ball for catch with Jon.

Jon pointing to his partner Noah in a throwing and catching drill. It was great! They had a contest to see which two could catch and throw the longest. Jon and Noah won together and than they had to switch up partners. Noah won 3 times and Jon won twice! Great drill!

Anthony throwing to his partner.

Practicing for grounders.

The Three Musketeers!

Taking grounders....Noah is up!

Than Anthony!

Jon's turn!

TJ doing some batting drills. The guys sitting down was constantly throwing up the balls and TJ had to quickly hit them! It was a pretty cool drill. Gotta have quick hands on the bat!

Close up of Jon taking some grounders.

Throwing it to 1st base. (Notice Noah doing the actions behind Jon!)

Noah's turn...

At the Pitching Station. It took Jon a little bit to get the footing down but he got it! I didn't get any of him actually pitching :-(

TJ doing another drill. He had to shuffle side to side to get the balls. I remember doing these drills when I played softball in HS!

Noah won a contest and the cousins ran up to give him a high five and hugged him!

Jon got his bat for the next drill. Learning how to bunt.

Listening to the coach.

He has gotten to be a pretty good at bunting.

Time for fly balls!

He didn't do too well on this one. It was WAY over his head!

Running in for lunch!

After lunch they do more drills like hitting, than the last hour of camp they all divide into age groups and play a game of baseball! Thanks St. Paul Saints Camp Staff!
